FAQ's

ORDERING/DELIVERY:

How do I order?

Ordering is super easy! Simply find the product you wish to order on our website, complete the customisation fields, upload your image, add the product to the cart and process the payment at the check-out.

What is your production time?

We are a small team and pride our ourselves on accuracy. Once your order is placed, production will begin within 4-5 working days (longer during peak periods, such as Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Black Friday etc). If you require your order quickly, be sure to purchase express shipping and we will endeavour to prioritise your order.

How much is delivery?

Standard shipping with tracking: $10
Express shipping with tracking: $20
Free Shipping on orders over $150 for Australian customers only.

If you are outside of Australia, feel free to email through the items you are interested and your location for a shipping quote.

Can I pick up my order?

At this stage we don’t offer local pick up.

Do you ship overseas?

Yes, absolutely! Simply send us your postal address prior via email, what you would like to order, and we will calculate the shipping for you.

What are your cut-off dates for special occasions such as Christmas, Mother’s Day, etc?

Keep an eye out on our social media and website for any approaching cut-off dates.

My order hasn’t arrived yet?

We provide a tracking number for all our deliveries and is sent to you with your shipping confirmation (check you Junk Mail if you can’t find the email). Unfortunately, we do not have any control over the transit time once it leaves our end. If your delivery has taken over 10 days to arrive from the shipping date, we suggest you reach out to your delivery service.

My order is a gift, can you deliver it directly to them?

No problem at all. Remember to have their address as the delivery address.

You can also add a gift card with your own message when you are creating your product.

Can I print artwork that is from a brand?

Unfortunately, no. Brands have strict copyright laws which don’t allow anyone to reproduce their brand, characters or any other elements.

As much as we would love to print your little one’s favourite character or your favourite brand logo, we simply can’t due to copyright reasons.

PRODUCTS:

What are the artwork requirements?

For all printing jobs, always allow a 3mm bleed on all sides of your artwork or photo. This allows us to print your image right up to the edge.

If you choose to have a border, you don’t need to worry about a bleed area.

Is my image resolution suitable?

  • Mobile phone – 99% of the time yes, however if it has been cropped or highly edited, the resolution may be compromised. Especially when it is enlarged to A4 and above.
  • Social Media – we always prefer to have the original photograph. If you can’t get hold of the original photo we can look at the quality downloaded from Social Media and see what size it can be printed at.
  • Scanned – If you are scanning a printed photo we always suggest to scan at 300dpi. Always ensure your scanning bed is clean with no dust, hair or fingerprint marks. Note: that a scanned image will never be as crisp as a digital photo.
  • Small file size – If you are concerned about the file size, feel free to send it through to us prior to check how large the image can be printed at.
  • Dark photo – If you are concerned your photo may be a little dark, email it through to hello@onablock.com.au first and we can advise if it will be clear enough, or if it can be made lighter without compromising the image.

Will my photo fit into the dimensions?

It depends on what type of camera the photo has been taken on and if it has been cropped previously. You can zoom in and out on the customisation page so you are happy with the cropping.

What wood do you use?

We use a Premium Birch Plywood sourced from a local supplier.

What are the different print finishes on wood?

Exposed wood grain:
This is when the printer doesn’t print any white pigment and it appears transparent on the wood. As a result, the wood grain or surface underneath is visible through the image.

White base on wood:
This makes the image opaque and you can’t see the wood grain or surface underneath and it appears just like a printed photo. Please note however, wood has a texture that you can feel and this is still the case after the image is printed. The print doesn’t make the surface smooth.

Do you offer foil/metallic printing?

Unfortunately not. Our printer isn’t capable of doing foil. Maybe someday!

Can I order a sample?

We would be able to send you a sample of the print. Simply place an order for a sample with the specification of the print and we will post it out to you.

Is the colour consistent?

As wood is a natural product, colour may vary when the photo is printed directly without a white background. Also, colours vary depending on what device you are using. Often phones and computer screens appear brighter in colour than what is printed.

What are bundled sets?

Bundled sets are the exact same wood block as the single blocks, except that that they have been bundled into an assortment of sizes to help you display your photos.

Can I mix and match portrait and landscape?

Of course! Each block has two keyholes at the back for you to hang your photos either portrait or landscape.

Do the blocks stand on their own?

We have chosen to use a 25mm thick plywood for all our sizes so they can stand up by themselves. 20x30cm and above are best hung on the wall, however if you wish to stand them up we recommend leaning them on put on a piece of furniture that isn't in a high traffic zone which might be knocked.

How do I hang a block on the wall?

We have gone to the extra effort to provide you with a keyhole at the back for you to hang directly off a nail in the wall. If you would prefer not to nail into your walls or you live in a rental property we suggest using the 3M self-adhesive strips. Always follow the instructions on the packaging and determine if your wall surface is suitable.

How much do the photo blocks weigh?

Below are approximate weights for each Photo Block size.
10x10cm - 400g
10x15cm -  450g
15x15cm - 600g
15x20cm - 700g
20x20cm - 850g
20x30cm - 1.4kg
30x30cm - 1.8kg
30x40cm - 2.2kg

How do I clean and care for my block?

The plywood is pre-varnish on the front prior to printing, however we do recommend to keep the blocks away from any liquids/food to avoid anything absorbing. To remove any dust, simply use a dry cloth.

To maintain the colour of the print, we always suggest to keep it away from direct sunlight.

“I don’t like my print”
“It doesn’t suit my space”

“Can I return it?”
